Gillingham long run, stretching almost two-months, without a home win ended on Saturday when we saw off Bradford to probably end any lingering doubts that we could get sucked into the relegation battle but also dent our visitors’ play-off hopes.

A first win at Priestfield since February 14th, when we beat MK Dons, was secured thanks to a one-nil win.

Had it not been for Morris, who made two fine saves to keep out Stead and Hanson, both from close range, Bradford could have been ahead and even out of sight!

With his eighth goal for us since arriving on loan from Millwall, Marquis (72), shortly after coming off the bench, curled his effort past Bradford ‘keeper Williams to open the scoring with less than 20-minutes to play.

Bradford’s captain Darby kept them in it when he cleared another Marquis effort off the line but it didn’t matter, as we had still done enough to win.

Preston (a)
This was an important win, we’ll look to follow this up with another positive win against Preston next time round, but will we?
