Who are ya? Doncaster Rovers
Ground: Belle Vue, but they are moving to a new ground during this season.
How to get there: By Car: From Gillingham, get onto the A2 and then the M25 anti-clockwise. Leave the M25 at Junction 27, the M11. Follow this road up, onto the A14, the A1 (M), the A1. Leave the A1 at Junction 36 – the A630 and follow signs to the racecourse, which is right next door to Belle Vue, where the Gills’ trip to Doncaster will definitely take place in September. Remember me? Bruce Dyer is believed to have nearly become the Gills’ record signing in 2000/01 but turned the move down, reportedly because he was insisting on a relegation release clause which the Gills were unwilling to give him. His Barnsley side were relegated themselves the next season.
Man to watch: Paul Heffernan. Scored both the goals when the Rovers beat us in the League Cup last season and is a striker of real quality. Had a superb season for Notts County when they were relegated and joined Bristol City, with the Gills also supposedly interested in him but struggled at Ashton Gate, but has fared better after his move to Belle Vue in 2005.
2006/07 prospects: Doncaster were close to making the play-offs last year and have added enough good players to their side in order to go at least one step further this time around.
