Indeed the FA cup always does have shocks, but fortunately we managed to avoid a true giant killer (just about) on Saturday.

Brackley Town came to Priestfield looking to cause an upset against Gillingham, and for a while looked on to do this!

Joe Martin’s second half own goal put Brackley ahead and with the minutes ticking away it wasn’t until the seventh minute of injury-time before Bradley Dack levelled it up at 1-1 to ensure that we went to a replay.

Credit has to be given to Brackley, which it was by Peter Taylor, however we weren’t good enough either.

Taylor told BBC Radio Kent: ‘It was not what we are looking for, we want better than that, but the FA Cup always has shocks.

‘We kick-off and Brackley, who did ever so well and deserve credit, had a great move in the first minute and it made our players even more nervous.

‘On the plus side we kept going, and that’s the most important thing.’

He wouldn’t be drawn on the manager’s issue, which should be revolved by the time we next play in league two, with him appointed?

Brackley won’t feel they’ve missed there chance as with home advantage in a midweek game they could well yet cause a real shock, but lets hope not!
