The likely, if not expected, was confirmed earlier this week with Gillingham’s new permanent manager confirmed.

Yes, like I say, the expected appointment of Peter Taylor was confirmed until the end of the season.

His interim period was (as recently revealed) only ever likely to be for around a month with a permanent appointment going to be the case before we took on Sheffield United this weekend.

It seemed a strange move bringing Taylor in as an interim boss and I would have always been surprised if he’d not stayed until the end of the season at least, and he now will.

Should Taylor produce the goods between now and the end of the season (keeping us up being the minimum aim) he could, and probably would, be with us for longer…

One of Taylor’s first acts as our permanent boss, after the Sheffield United game of course, will be to ensure that we don’t fall victim to an FA cup upset when we face our replay with Brackley Town on Monday 18th November.

The TV cameras will be hoping for an upset with ITV screening this game live.
