Josh Pritchard’s exit from Gillingham, ahead of the transfer window closing, was confirmed by the club earlier in the week on the Official Website.

Pritchard, who hasn’t featured under Justin Edinburgh this season, wasn’t in the bosses future plans so it was mutually decided it would be best for all concerned if the 22-year-old moved on so his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

His leaving ahead of the 6pm deadline on Tuesday enables the midfielder to find himself a new club between now and January, which he couldn’t have done if he didn’t move on before then.

The last of his 28 appearances came in April last season with him leaving a little over half way through his two-year deal signed under former boss Peter Taylor.

As for this season, and how it’s going, Edinburgh is delighted! More so given the amount of changes we’ve seen to the squad and this is still a young and developing one.

He told Kent Online.

‘What we can’t underestimate is that we brought nine players into the group in the summer and are still bedding them in. We aren’t the finished article and it will be a couple of years before we will be.

‘The age of the group tells you that they are nowhere near their peak. It is exciting times for the club.’

He added he’s not getting carried away by the start, which had seen the Gills top the League 1 table and we got into the weekend in fourth, as it’s ‘a 10-month season’ and we’ve got to show ‘consistency’ to make sure we remain where we are.
