Which will be the case with Dominic Samuel until the end of the month after a deal was agreed with his parent club recently to extend this deal until the end of the month.

Samuel initially arrived in November with his latest loan extension set to expire after the win over Bradford but this extended spell gained him another three-weeks taking him through until 28th January.

After the extension of the 21-year-old Justin Edinburgh told the Official Website.

‘We are delighted to have extended his services, Dom is playing very well here and scored some important goals. We give Reading feedback on how he is doing, they can see he’s improving but they are also mindful of the fact he needs to play.’

If Samuel remains beyond this latest spell, or returns to Reading, will be found out soon enough but having recently returned from his loan with Cambridge Ben Williamson wasn’t going anywhere?

Edinburgh had ruled out an extended spell with the League 2 side, which is what they wanted with the Gills boss saying he saw him as a ‘new signing’ and with him proven at League 1 level he wanted him back for the second half of the season with him hopeful that loan spell has seen him come back ‘full of confidence’ with him having ‘the bit between his teeth’ to force himself back into the starting XI himself.

Such thoughts didn’t last too long as we now know he’s returned to Cambridge!
