Deon Burton’s Gillingham career would appear to be over.
Martin Allen had spoke of his desire to retain the veteran, and he wanted to stay. However his agent Darryl Powell has now said that contract talks have been called off, with the 36-year-old left “disappointed” having played his part in helping the Gills to the League Two title last season.
The signing of Cody McDonald on Wednesday certainly spelt the end for Burton, who I am sure will find another club as he’s still capable of doing a job.
