Oxford United are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this midweek’s action.

The performance by Curtis Nelson in the one nil victory over Gillingham on Tuesday at the Kassam Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Nelson was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Oxford made it back-to-back wins with a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Gillingham. An impressive defensive display laid the foundations, with Nelson clearing a header off the line and remaining focussed despite the heavy fog at the Kassam Stadium.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Nelson for his recognition, but the most important thing about the match was of course the win.
