Ahead of the final game of the season, which saw us beat Notts County to relegate them, the release of former Arsenal youngster Mahlon Romeo was confirmed. He’s since signed for Millwall with another departure seemingly announced.

It not official yet but Joe Martin has taken to Twitter to wish the club the best for next season, which tends to suggest he’ll not be at Priestfield with him also expressing how much he’s enjoyed his time with the Gills since his arrival in 2010.

‘Enjoyed my time @TheGillsFC wish the club all the best for next season #timeforanewchallenge.’

Martin’s season had been impacted by injuries, which limited him to just 32 appearances this season.

Last week the depature of 19-year-old Romeo was annnounced and today it’s been confirmed that the defender has signed a one-year contract with Millwall, who dropped into League 1 so we’ll possibly come up against him next season?

On the move he told Official Millwall Website.

‘I already know Alfie Pavey from my time at Gillingham. Alfie was at Maidstone then and we used to play them quite a bit in friendlies and so on.

‘Everyone has been really friendly here already and I’m delighted to sign for Millwall.’
