Gillingham’s League 1 season continued with a draw against Swindon at Priestfield on Saturday.

A nil-nil draw with Swindon didn’t do much to help Gillingham’s promotion chances with the Gills dropping to fourth place as a result. Rory Donnelly and Josh Wright both had chances saved by Swindon ‘keeper Lawrence Vigouroux but couldn’t force a breakthrough.

These were the other results.

Saturday 6th February 2016
Burton 3-1 Bradford
Chesterfield 0-1 Peterborough
Crewe 2-0 Rochdale
Gillingham 0-0 Swindon
Oldham P-P Blackpool
Scunthorpe P-P Doncaster
Sheff Utd 0-2 Wigan
Southend 3-0 Colchester
Walsall 0-3 Millwall

Sunday 7th February 2016
Port Vale 1-1 Coventry
Barnsley 3-0 Bury
Fleetwood 0-0 Shrewsbury

Looking at these results the stand out ones have to be the wins for Wigan (two-nil), Millwall (three-nil) and Barnsley (three-nil) for me.

Wigan are looking a good bet for a top two automatic place and at this stage you wouldn’t bet against them coming through to win the title with the two-nil win at Sheffield United leaving them well placed but the Bramall Lane defeat was a setback for the Blades’ own hopes.

Another side, perhaps not looking like they’ll challenge for automatic (unless the impressive run continues), that looks good for a top six finish and a play-off place is Millwall with them going away from second place Walsall with a three-nil win at the Banks’ Stadium.

Barnsley recovered from the loss of boss Lee Johnson, who opted to leave for former club Bristol City, in positive fashion with a three-nil win over Bury at Oakwell to keep the winning run going to leave them looking for to come from relegation trouble to a play-off place perhaps!
