Gillingham are still in search of that illusive league one win, they’ve come close a couple of times but as yet it hasn’t come.

Also, some good points have been snatched away from them late on or with something of an element of misfortune about it.

The Gills might be second bottom in league one but Martin Allen has already spoken about the positives he’s taken from some games, most recently the defeat against Coventry on Sunday afternoon.

In this game former Coventry striker Cody McDonald equalised an early Sky Blues goal and that looked like it would earn a point at Sixfields until Coventry won it late on…

It’s far too early to worry too much, but what is important according to McDonald is that the players remain united as if they do things will start going the clubs way.

He told BBC Radio Kent: ‘It has got to change at some stage. We need to keep going and stick together.

‘There is a great bunch of lads in the dressing room and we don’t deserve to be down at the bottom with the way we are playing at the minute.

‘It will come. We can’t keep playing well, working hard for each other and it not happen.’

I think that McDonald has hit the nail on the head really hasn’t he?
