The Gillingham run in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy is over for another year after the quarter final defeat against Yeovil at Priestfield on Tuesday.

Gillingham, for the second time in a matter of days, suffered a cup upset when losing to struggling League 2 side Yeovil, who had gone ahead through Cornick (13) only for Garmston (43) to bring the Gills level.

A one-one draw meant penalties were needed with the Glovers going through five-four!

You can see more like this on GFCofficial.

The full quarter final results, remember these were area quarter finals, in the JPT were:-

Tuesday 10th November
Wigan 4-0 Blackpool
Barnsley 2-1 York
Fleetwood 0-0 Sheff Utd (Fleetwood won 4-1 on penalties)
Rochdale 0-1 Morecambe
Gillingham 1-1 Yeovil (Yeovil win 5-4 on penalties)
Plymouth 3-5 Millwall

Wednesday 11th November
Dag & Red 0-2 Oxford Utd
Southend 1-0 Bristol Rovers

A few upsets, but, on the whole, most who might have been expected to progress did with the standout results being the penalty shootout wins for Fleetwood and Yeovil over Sheffield United and Gillingham, respectively, and the Morecambe win at Rochdale!

Following the quarter final defeat we know we’ll not be in the draw when this takes place on Soccer AM so we can now ‘concentrate on the league’ as they say!

Not only do we want you looking, as you are now, we’re also looking for your thoughts and views on the JPT result, so do share some of those with your comments below.
