Justin Edinburgh wanted to add a striker to the Gillingham squad to further boost his options, and improve our promotion chances, and he’s duly managed this with the loan addition of Welsh U21 international George Williams.

Williams, who started out with MK Dons, has signed for the Gills on loan from Fulham until the end of the season with him in contention to make his debut against in-form Barnsley today.

Not only has the 20-year-old come to Priestfield until the end of the season this loan deal does come with the option for the striker, who has made 17 appearances for his parent club since joining them in 2012 (coming back from an anterior cruciate ligament injury a year ago), extending his stay into the play-offs if needed.

After signing Williams, who will wear shirt no.9 for Gillingham, Edinburgh told the Official Website he’ll offer that something different he was looking for.

‘We are delighted to have George on board, we have been looking to add to our attacking options for a while and he fits the bill perfectly. He has experience of league and international Football and I have no doubt he will offer our forward line something different between now and the end of the season.’
