Ahead of the weekend game with Leyton Orient at the weekend Gillingham boosted the defensive ranks with the addition of Adam Chicksen on a loan deal from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Speaking about his arrival Peter Taylor told the official website: ‘I’m delighted that Adam has decided to join us on loan. It’s great for him to get some games and it’s great for us to have such a good player.’

The left back has been signed on an initial one-month spell and will provide more than adequate cover for the suspended Joe Martin, who started a three-match ban this weekend following his sending off in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy win over Crawley Town.

23-year-old Chicksen is no stranger to league 1 football as he spent several years with Milton Keynes Dons before deciding that he wanted to step up a level with him joining the Championship side the summer before last.

Chicksen has made eight first-team appearances for Brighton this season but this is a loan that’ll benefit everyone over the next month.
