The past couple of weeks has seen a few players come and go, including one player (Callum Davies) allowed to leave Gillingham just before Christmas when his contract was terminated.

Hardly a surprise as he’s not been in Justin Edinburgh’s plans, and wouldn’t have been going forward either, with him having loan spells with Bromley and Eastleigh this season alone but after 39 first-team appearances his release was announced on the Official Website.

Upon the 22-year-old having his exit confirmed the club said.

‘Gillingham FC would like to thank Callum for everything he has done while at the club and we wish him every success in the future.’

Jordan Houghton and Adedeji Oshilaja had been on loan with Gillingham from Chelsea and Cardiff, respectively, but they returned to their parent clubs this month when temporary spells ended.

20-year-old Houghton took to social media to write a farewell post on Twitter thanking the Gills for the loan he had saying he was sorry to be moving on.

‘I’d like to thank everyone at Gillingham FC for my time there. It was my first experience in the Football League and in the main an enjoyable one. It was a shame how it ended and not exactly how I’d have planned but I’ve learnt a lot and am pleased with all of the 15 games I got. Thank you to the club and its staff for giving me the opportunity, the fans and most importantly the players who made me feel like part of the team from day one. I wish everyone at Gillingham football club and it’s associated all the best in the future.’

Oshilaja was someone that Edinburgh was keen to keep at Priestfield, following a key role played by the 22-year-old in the first half of the season but a deal couldn’t be agreed with Cardiff so they recalled the defender.
