The disappointment of the weekend defeat to Blackpool at Bloomfield Road has been offset somewhat by the news Dominic Samuel will be staying at Priestfield until the end of the season.

Since his arrival in November, which had already been extended, the striker has made 13 appearances for Gillingham and scored an impressive five-goals including a debut goal of course.

An agreement has been reached with his parent club Reading that will keep him with the Gills until 8th May with this extended into the play-offs should these be needed.

Justin Edinburgh has told the Official Website it was ‘great news’ with him happy to secure this extension, as had always been his aim.

‘This is great news for everybody at the club, Dominic has scored some important goals for us and we were always keen to secure his services for longer if the opportunity came up. We have now concluded the deal and we look forward to having him on board for the remainder of the season.’
