Gillingham 2-2 AFC Wimbledon

A two-goal lead might have been squandered by Gillingham against AFC Wimbledon, however a draw was still enough to secure the League Two title.

Gillingham were off to a blinding start with an early volley from Deon Burton (12) giving them the lead with former Wimbledon striker Danny Kedwell (23) heading home to double this lead shortly after!

There seemed little, to no, threat from Wimbledon in the first half but the signs were more positive in the second with Luke Moore, Chris Hussey and Pim Balkestein all guilty of missing chances. However hope was gained around the midway point of it when Jack Midson (65) reduced the deficit.

Jonathan Meades (82) finished a cutback to draw The Dons level late on, and had it not been for the post then Gary Alexander would have completed a comeback win but as it was the game ended 2-2.

Promotion has long since been confirmed but now the real party begins for The Gills with the title wrapped up, bringing them such an achievement for the first time in 49-years.
