Gillingham have moved to swiftly fill the void left by the departure of Kortney Hause by signing Max Ehmer on loan.

Wolverhampton Wanderers exercised their right to recall the England youth international this week, doing so ahead of the emergency loan transfer window closing to make sure we had time to replace him, with Ehmer coming in from Queen Park Rangers.

On his signing Peter Taylor told the official website: ‘I’m delighted to have Max on board, he has played in over 80 league matches for a number of clubs and has good experience at this level.

‘He’s a good player, a strong defender and can play in a couple of other positions too.’

The 22-year-old German, who has made one first-team appearance in the Premier League for his parent club, will stay with us until January.

Loan spells with Yeovil Town, Preston North End, Stevenage Borough and Carlisle United have allowed him to gain plenty of Football League experience with him very much at home at league 1 level so we know what we’re getting.
