Justin Edinburgh has insisted the Gillingham confidence (as ever) is high ahead of the season finale against Millwall.

There’s little doubt as far as the boss is concerned we can beat the Lions at Priestfield with him telling the Official Website.

‘We`re always confident, we always believe in ourselves and we certainly believe we can win on Sunday.’

A repeat of the three-nil win we managed at the Den in December would be very welcome!

Should we win, which we have to, it could be enough for a play-offs place with Edinburgh adding he’s hopeful we can get near our ‘top level’ (which we were close to in the last couple of matches) so we can ‘take care’ of our match.

‘It`s a one-off game, it`s a cup final and we understand what we need to do: we have to win the football match. I think the last two performances saw us get near the level we were for long periods of the season. There`s a good feel around the camp, there`s optimism and we believe we`ll take care of our game.’

Anything but a win and the promotion dream ends!

Gillingham are of course reliant on other results too though as even if we do complete the double over Millwall (already in the play-offs) we need Barnsley and Scunthorpe to lose against Wigan and Sheffield United respectively too!

These tough matches for our rivals leave the boss hopeful of us getting that helping hand we need.

‘We`re reliant on other teams to help us out, but there`s a chance that can happen. I believe their games (Barnsley and Scunthorpe) are very tough; Wigan are looking to secure the title in front of their home fans, and it`s Sheffield United`s last home game of the season, so they`ll want to put on a show for their fans. ‘

It’s a tall order isn’t it and we’ll certainly need some help!
