Which (with this a deal that could be done) could lead to Lloyd Doyley earning a contract with Gillingham to boost Justin Edinburgh’s bid to kick on in the second half of the season and keep the promotion bid going.

Doyley, who has been without a club since leaving Watford at the end of last season, is training with the Gills at the moment after a previous trial with Charlton with this ‘serving both parties’ but a permanent arrival isn’t being ruled out.

The 33-year-old, who made almost 450 appearances for Watford, is now back to full fitness after neck surgery and looking for a new club with his experience and quality something that could prove crucial to Gillingham if he does sign.

With, not only confirming he’s currently training with the club but also saying a deal could happen, the boss telling BBC Radio Kent.

‘It’s serving both parties?he’s someone we may look to add and also for Lloyd to keep himself fit.’
