Max Ehmer’s loan spell is coming to an end with him due to return to his Premier League parent club QPR following the final game of the League 1 season this weekend.

The defender has enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Gills since his arrival in January and, last week, told KentOnline that he would sooner join us on a permanent basis than return to Loftus Road and be a bit part player.

It’s a loan that he’s enjoyed and would be open to a permanent signing if something could be arranged, assuming he had no future at Loftus Road!

‘I’d prefer to play here every week than be sat on the bench at QPR if I’m being honest.

‘It’s the sort of club I could see myself coming to, 100%. While I’ve been here I’ve really enjoyed it and I haven’t regretted it one bit.’

Currently Chris Ramsey is in charge of QPR but his future, much like the 23-year-olds future, is unclear under Harry Redknapp he had no thoughts that he would have a long-term stay with them but this could now change?

He literally doesn’t know what the future holds though.

‘I don’t know anything, really, because they don’t even know if Chris Ramsey’s staying next year. I literally have no idea.

‘I speak to Les (Ferdinand) and Chris Ramsey a lot but it’s hard for them to say ‘we want you to play next year’ because Chris doesn’t even know himself if he’s going to be manager.

‘Me and Chris get on really well so maybe I would have been around it this season had I stayed. But I signed my loan and the day after, Redknapp goes, so there wasn’t a lot I could do.

‘I literally don’t know what happens in the summer. That’s the only thing stopping me right now.’
