Following a highly successful season with Gillingham former Sunderland man John Egan has been named as the Player of the Year.

The Official Website announced this following Sunday’s end of season awards dinner with the defender winning this ahead of Bradley Dack and Cody McDonald.

‘I feel extremely proud and it’s a great moment for me and my family.

‘I’d like to thank the lads because without them I couldn’t have produced what I have on the pitch this season.

‘I’m delighted with the awards and very honoured.’

Dack might have been beaten to the top award by Egan, who scored his fifth and final goal of the season to draw us level in our three-one win against Notts County on the final day of the season, but was confirmed as both the Young Player of the Year and the Players’ Player of the Year.

The winners were as follows:-

Young Player of the Year – Bradley Dack
Goal of the Season Winner – Luke Norris
Away Player of the Year – John Egan
MEMS Player of the Year – Bradley Dack
Players’ Player of the Year – Bradley Dack
The Chairman’s Cup – Jermaine McGlashan
