I had doubts about the validity of the initial Daily Mail reports of a Bristol City interest in Bradley Dack as they were claiming this interest had come from Steve Cotterill, who had already several days before the reports, been sacked!

Interest in Dack isn’t something anyone would doubt as coming in from Championship sides though but when it’s being claimed the interest has come from a boss who sees his side ‘wallowing in 22nd place in the second tier of English football’ when they’re not even in charge, and hadn’t been in charge for a good few days, you do question how accurate the claims are…

This interest has since been backed up by the BBC mind with a reported £1m offer made, according to the Beeb, for Dack but Gillingham have turned down the offer and hope to fend off interest this month with the 22-year-old central to the ongoing promotion hopes.

Justin Edinburgh has confirmed to the BBC offers did come in, three of them it seems, but this wasn’t a move the 22-year-old was keen on as former Charlton youngster Dack didn’t ‘feel Bristol was the right move’ at this time, which of course left the boss ‘delighted’.

‘I spoke to Bradley and he made it quite clear he didn’t feel that Bristol was the right move for him at this present time, which I was delighted with. He just wants to have success here with Gillingham right now.’

Having scored 13-goals and assisted almost as many, Edinburgh added the valuation is much higher than the reported £1m put in.

‘Our valuation is a long way off that. With 13 goals and 12 assists, I don’t think there’s a more valuable player in the league.’
