Gillingham boss Peter Taylor is, as they say, ‘under pressure’ at the moment but he hopes that he’ll be given a chance to turn things around.

With just one win in the last 12 league 1 games we’re in the relegation zone and the signs aren’t looking good that we’ll turn this around anytime soon….

Taylor’s been in the game for long enough now to know how it works and says that he would ‘totally understand’ if chairman Paul Scally sacked him, he also feels that ‘the majority’ of Gills fans would also want this.

He’s pleased for a little more time though, he told BBC Radio Kent: ‘If the chairman picked up the phone and said ‘Peter, that’s it, you’re not having any longer’ I would totally understand.

‘The majority of the fans probably want me out. What I would like to have here is a lot more time.’

Scally has already given the 61-year-old the dreaded ‘vote of confidence’ but he feels confident that, as much as he also understands the fans frustrations, he can get us out of the hole we’re in.

An overhaul of the squad hasn’t yielded the results that he wanted, and we would have expected, but Taylor feels that injuries to key players hasn’t helped.

Taylor has a little it of rest bite with it being the FA Cup today, although we’ll want to advance but the problem is we’re playing the league 1 leaders!

Improvements got to be seen, and quickly or Taylor will pay with his job lost….
